Tai Chi Chuan
Kevin has been exploring and practicing Tai Chi and Chi Gong since 2003. His approach is based on Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan. His teaching started with Cheng Mang Cheng 24 form and Yang Style 34 movement. The majority of his studies have been with Michael Gilman, who studied with Master Choy Kam-man, whose father, Choy Hok-peng, studied with Yang Cheng Fu. Cheng Fu is credited with introducing Tai Chi to America in the 1940’s.
Kevin is interested in the martial application and movement patterns of each form and his teaching approach is based on teaching principles of posture, root and breathing to explore the relationships in the body.
Whether you are interested in starting a Tai Chi practice or currently following a practice, these classes will include discussion and application of the movement, breath and understanding of the principles of Chi in the body. This class is open to any fitness level but standing, bending and challenging balances, multiple times, are required for this class. All participants will be lead in a safe, fun and comfortable environment.
